Do I need another SIM card or phone?
No. The Canadian number is hosted by TheLocalRing. Texts arrive in your existing email inbox, so there is no second phone or SIM to buy.
Do I need to install an app?
No. You receive messages and reply using your existing email account in the mail app or browser you already use.
Can people text the number normally?
Yes. They send an ordinary SMS to a Canadian phone number. They do not need TheLocalRing, an account, or a special app.
Can I reply to those messages?
Yes. Reply to the message in your email inbox and TheLocalRing sends your response back as SMS from the temporary number.
Does my personal phone number remain hidden?
Yes. The other person sees the temporary TheLocalRing number. They do not see your personal phone number or email address.
What happens when the pass ends?
Text forwarding stops at the exact expiry time. The number remains reserved to your account for seven more days, then it may be returned to the shared pool or released.
