What phone number should I give out at a conference or trade show?

The free 14 days

Your first monthly subscription gets 14 days free. You enter a card at checkout, you pick a number, and the card is not charged until day 15. Cancel from the dashboard at any point inside those 14 days and it is never charged; the number keeps working to the end of the free period.

One free period per customer. A second subscription is charged from the start.

14 days covers a three-day show and the week and a half after it, when the leads from a booth either answer or go cold. A pass covers the show and stops.

If the follow-ups run longer and you meant to cancel and did not, email us within 30 days of the first charge and we refund it.

It rings, and it reads out the number

Conference contacts call. Someone you met on Tuesday phones on Friday about the thing you talked about, and a number that cannot ring loses that call.

• The number rings every phone you list, up to five, all at once — the booth staff, the sales lead back at the office, or just you.
• Before anyone is connected, a spoken line reads out the number that is calling.
• Every call is emailed, including the ones nobody picked up. A missed call from the show is a number in your inbox.
• 300 minutes a month are included, each call counted as a whole minute. Past that, callers hear a spoken message asking them to text instead.
• There is no voicemail. A caller who gets no answer can text the same number.

Five people at the booth, one number

Because the texts are email, they are searchable and forwardable. A lead one colleague handled on Tuesday is in everyone’s inbox on Thursday.

• Up to five email addresses receive every text that comes in.
• Anyone reads it in their phone’s email app and replies from there. The reply goes out as a text from the booth number.
• The person who texted sees one phone number. They never learn who answered, how many of you there are, or anyone’s email address.
• Nothing to install. A locked-down work phone that cannot take apps still reads email.

What it will not do

• It cannot text anyone first. You cannot type in the fifty numbers you collected and send a follow-up. A conversation exists only when someone texts you and you reply, and the software enforces that.
• It cannot place calls. Call a contact back from any phone you like; this number only receives.
• It cannot receive verification codes. Do not use it to register for the event app or the exhibitor portal.
• No picture messages, no voicemail.

When you are done

Cancel from the dashboard. Forwarding stops at the end of the period you are in, free or paid. The number stays reserved to your account for seven days, then it is released. Before you cancel, give the contacts you want to keep a channel you keep: your work email or your office number.

If you only need the days of the show

A 1-day pass is C$2.99, a 3-day pass is C$5.99, and a 7-day pass is C$7.99, paid once. They are text-only: a caller hears a spoken message asking them to text instead, and there is no free trial on a pass. A pass starts when your number is assigned, which is when you pick it after checkout, so pick the number as the doors open.
